Inca chullpa at the Sillustani burial grounds, near Puno, Peru. Sillustani is a pre-Inca and Inca burial ground where members of high society were mummified and buried in the fetal position (symbolizing rebirth) and placed in the small openings at the base which face east, where the sun is said to be born from mother earth every morning.
