A newborn gray whale calf (Eschrichtius robustus) surfaces in Laguna San Ignacio, on the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and part of the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, it is the last undeveloped gray whale birthing lagoon on the planet.
