Wild mushrooms are a specialty of the region, and sold at the larger markets in the valley. Cuajimoloya, a neighboring community, celebrates the Feria del Hongo (Mushroom Festival) each year. The Pueblos Mancomunados, literally "joint villages", welcome low-impact tourism with cabins, home stays and a large network of signposted trails and forest roads throughout the spectacular landscape which the communities share.
